Ina’s Salty Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies

With the popularity of social media, in my case Facebook, it doesn’t take much to get inspired to whip up something delicious.  Since I follow many cooking blogs and websites my timeline is filled with an abundance of new recipes and those rapid-fire cooking videos.  Just the other day my favorite, Ina Garten popped up in a Food Network post…just begging me to whip together a batch of these Salty Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

Lucky for me I had everything in my pantry already.  It’s just such a basic cookie, but with the addition of dried cranberries and sprinkles of sea salt it takes up a notch…to Ina’s level of course.  I was also excited to use my brand new box of Maldon Sea Salt.  The ONLY kind Ina recommends.  On a recent trip to Kansas City, my husband and I visited Sur La Table.  Before we knew it he and I had spent nearly an hour oohing and aahing over all of the fabulous cooking items.  I squealed a little (under my breathe) when I saw the Maldon salt on a shelf…something I cannot get in my local supermarket.

The only change I would make to the recipe would be for me to add a bit more sea salt before baking.  Some cookies had that nice salty hit…others not so much.  If you are looking for a quick treat that’s a bit different and easy to make check out the link below::
