Italian Sausage and Fennel Rigatoni

Ciao friends!  I wanted to share with you a favorite pasta recipe today…it comes from Ina Garten’s cookbook, Cooking for Jeffrey.  She calls it Rigatoni with Sausage and Fennel.

Of course with most recipes I tweak them to my personal tastes.  In this case I chose to add sliced button mushrooms, doubled the amount of fresh garlic and doubled the amount of red pepper chili flakes from her original version.

The sauce is amazing!  I like to call this type of sauce a “pink sauce”.  It combines wine, cream and a bit of tomato paste…which all together has a lovely light pink color.

I promise you that your friends and family will want this over and over again.
